Motorized Pan

This is the camera's ability to physically move its view horizontally. It allows the user to remotely adjust the camera from left to right a full 230º and scan almost the entire room.

Motorized Tilt

This is the camera's ability to physically move its view vertically. It allows the user to remotely adjust the camera up and down for a 110º floor-to-ceiling view.

Your Video Calling System's camera comes equipped with a professional-quality zoom lens so you get the finest quality picture. Our camera is equipped with an optical zoom of 22x, which means the camera is actually bringing you closer to your subject while maintaining a high quality image. Optical zoom is superior to digital zoom, which merely crops and enlarges the image you see, resulting in a heavily pixilated final image. Our camera still includes a 2x digital zoom to get you in that much closer, but the main power is from our 22x optical zoom, which lets you see up to half a mile away with no loss of image quality!

Resolution 640 X 480: The resolution of a camera measures the amount of detail the camera's images will pick up. In standard digital video, the resolution is measured in pixels. The X10 Video Calling System camera's ability to display clear details, however, is a product of the 22x optical zoom.

The camera simply doesn't need the high resolution that a purely digital zoom camera would need. While standard digital video recording would simply crop and enlarge the image you wish to get a close-up on, our camera will actually zoom in to bring you closer to the image, producing a much clearer image than could be achieved by simply raising the picture's resolution.

Low light Capability

With enabled Starlight Mode technology, the camera is able to operate down to extremely low light levels (.02 lux, about the equivalent to dim moonlight). Starlight Mode is an advanced slow-shutter setting which slows the camera's shutter to allow in more light, so you can still get a good quality color picture even in the dark.

Camera position presets

This is the camera's ability to store preset viewing positions. It allows you to direct your camera to up to nine pre-selected locations with the push of a button.

Remote Control

Our camera comes with a wireless Remote Control. It allows the user to adjust the camera's view manually as well as adjust picture quality and other camera settings.

- Do you need two cameras for video calling to work?

Simple answer: No!

Video calling is possible with only one camera; you can easily send video without receiving it in turn, and the person on the other end will still get a clear, high-quality image of you.

Option B: Video calling with two X10 cameras Ideally you would have two of our cameras, of course, so both you and the person on the other end would get the great clear picture and ability to control the other person's camera and pan, tilt, and zoom around the room.
Option C: Video Calling with 1 X10 camera and any other, regular webcam
You can also place a video call using our camera and another webcam on the other end. This doesn't interfere with your ability to send out a great picture, and the other person will still be able to remotely pan, tilt, and zoom your camera.


- What exactly is the camera's zoom?
Our Video Calling System's camera has a total combined zoom of 44x. This refers to the combination of our 22x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom. Our zoom may be referred to elsewhere just as 22x; this is because optical zoom is widely known to be far more important than digital. With an optical zoom the camera lens will actually zoom in closer to the object you wish to see, so you get a clear, close-up and magnified image. Digital zoom, however, works by cropping and enlarging the image you already have, resulting in lower-quality images. Ultimately, the optical zoom of a camera is far more important than the digital zoom.

- What's the camera's resolution?

The camera's resolution is 480 TV lines, which is about the same resolution that you'd get from a standard VCR. Our camera doesn't need a higher resolution because the image quality comes from our 22x optical zoom, so instead of raising the picture's resolution you can just zoom in to get the picture you want.
